At Alaska Care, we provide professional community nursing services to eligible NDIS participants. Our support is designed to help individuals manage complex or ongoing health conditions in a respectful, safe, and personalised manner, all in line with the goals outlined in their approved NDIS plans.

Whether you require short-term clinical care or ongoing health support at home, our experienced nursing staff work with you and your care team to ensure your health and wellbeing are prioritized, so you can focus on living more independently.

What Is Community Nursing Care?

Community nursing care under the NDIS refers to services that support people with disability who have specific health-related needs. These services are typically delivered in-home, and may include clinical support, wound management, medication supervision, and assistance with personal hygiene.

Community nursing can be funded under a participant’s NDIS plan when the need is related to their disability and is included as a reasonable and necessary support. All services are delivered in compliance with NDIS Practice Standards and relevant clinical guidelines.

How Alaska Care Supports You

We work alongside participants, families, plan nominees, and healthcare professionals to deliver respectful, person-centred nursing care in the home or in community settings. Depending on your plan and needs, our services may include:

  • Medication Management
Support with administering medication, keeping track of medication schedules, and communicating with prescribing healthcare professionals.
  • Wound Care
Assistance with dressing changes, wound monitoring, and infection prevention under appropriate clinical supervision.
  • Continence Support
Help with catheter care, continence routines, or related supports prescribed in your plan.
  • General Health Monitoring
Regular checks for blood pressure, temperature, oxygen levels, or other indicators as requested by your health team.
  • Assistance with Personal Hygiene
Help with showering, dressing, grooming, or toileting when these tasks are impacted by your disability.
  • Health Education and Guidance
Practical support in understanding your condition, medications, or care routine—as appropriate and within scope of practice.

We work with sensitivity, patience, and confidentiality to ensure your clinical needs are met without compromising your independence or comfort.
